So even though I have not been posting lately, life has still been very full. Full of living, full of growing, and full of crafting! I wanted to pop in quick and show you a baby quilt I made. It's stereotypically boy so now I need to make a girl one, you know, just so I have a pair ;P
I used the 'Welcome to Bear Country' fabric line by moda and did a disappearing nine patch pattern. The red and white polka dots is from a different line, not sure which one though, and the white is a kona solid.
It's cute, right?

christmas star
While home the other week my auntie surprised me with a kit to make this christmas mat (not sure what to call it!). The pattern for it comes from www.free-quilting.com which I would definitely recommend you check out. The website has tons of free patterns for you to browse and print out. I haven't looked at the site other than downloading this pattern but I am anxious to do so! The finished size of this mat is 12x12 (give or take a little since I am not the most accurate fabric cutter!)
At first I didn't know about the gold fabric, but now I really like it, and it works well with my decor since my tree is red and gold. For a fun Christmas present idea you could skip the borders and make pot holders for a relatively easy and handmade gift!

progress report
A few weeks ago I shared this post and I thought I would update you on how that is going. For this large of a quilt I have adopted the motto that "slow and steady wins the race". It's such a large project and because I do not have any sort of deadline for it, I can just work on it as I please. This is what I have been up to so far:
I have 50 of these block done...
...and now I'm working on 50 of these blocks where the diagonal goes the other way.
As you can see I still have a long ways to go!

a work in progress
This past weekend I started cutting out the pieces for my next quilt project. As I ironed each piece of fabric I was yet again blown away by how pretty it all was. This will probably sound cheesy but fabric is such an art in itself and I just love going to a fabric store and admiring each bolt. I have had this fabric for just over a year and I am only now starting to cut into it. In all honesty I think I was afraid to start because I have never been so fond of a particular line of fabric before. Anyways, here are some pics from the mess I created!

holiday quilt: finished
Just in the nick of time I have my holiday quilt done for December! It is absolutely perfect for snuggling up under to watch TV, go on the internet or read; It has a plush green background which makes it extra warm and cozy. It's fluffy and imperfect but that's what makes it perfect to me :)
Ok I lied, it's not completely done, the binding needs to be hand-stitched down in the back but my mom offered to do it for me over the Christmas break so I think it can just wait until then! Oh and as you can see in the background I caved and bought a Christmas tree! But really when they are 40% off and you have a gift certificate how can you not?!
Happy Crafting everyone! Enjoy the last day of November :)

holiday projects
I heard that apparently the snow is all supposed to melt in a couple days, but I decided it was about time anyways to start working on a quilt for the holidays. I have been sooo excited about this fabric ever since I got it and am finally able to start cutting into it!
To begin I have started cutting my fat quarters into 10" squares (layer cake size) and that's what you see below.
I had a hard time deciding what pattern to use for this fabric. I had one originally picked out which was quite holiday-ish but I just couldn't seem to make it work. I switched to this new one because I think that it showcases the large prints better and you can appreciate the fabric more in it.
I found this quilt pattern on this blog and it has so many great different quilt patterns on it that I know I will be visiting again!
I also picked this pattern because I thought it looked like giant snowballs!
Stay tuned for this work in progress!
