52 crafts: part 1

As a part of my new years resolutions I have set out to make 52 crafts/projects this year. The first one I decided to tackle was covering the monstrosity in my kitchen also known as an electrical box. I somehow deleted the picture of what was previously hanging when we moved in, but you can use your imagination and picture a piece of faded black broadcloth tacked around all four sides covering up the huge hole.

Before

After
Yes, as I'm sure you would agree, this is much more prettier :) I used a second-hand duvet cover that my mom found for me. I just love the polka dots, and the back is super cute as well, it is an orange plaid. For the strip at the top covering up the ruffled hem I used some green scrap fabric that I had on hand. You can't really see it all that well, but between the large orange dots there are small green dots in the same color as the strip on the top. We live in a basement suite with little light so I am constantly trying to figure out ways to make our home a little more cheery and I think this does just the trick!

Happy crafting!
